Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 1, 2026

GoGradGuide is a planning tool for graduate school applicants. This page explains what we collect, why, and what we don't do. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.

The short version

  • We collect your email address, and only if you choose to sign in.
  • Your application plan is stored in your own browser, not on our servers.
  • We never see or store your payment card details.
  • We don't sell your information, and we don't run advertising.
  • Schools don't pay us for placement, and never will.

What we collect

Your email address

If you sign in, we store your email address. We use it to identify your account, to send you the sign-in link you requested, and to record whether you've unlocked premium features. We use no passwords, so there is no password for us to store or for anyone to steal.

Your application plan

The schools you track, your deadlines, your notes and your completed tasks are saved in your own web browser's local storage. They are not transmitted to us and we cannot see them. Clearing your browser data will erase them, and they do not currently follow you to another device.

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never pass through our systems. Stripe tells us that a payment succeeded and which account it belongs to, so we can unlock your premium features. Stripe's own privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

Advising sessions

If you book a one-on-one session, that booking is handled by Cal.com, which collects the name, email and any details you provide when scheduling. Their privacy policy is at cal.com/privacy.

Basic technical information

Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically records standard server information such as IP addresses and browser types as part of delivering the site. We use this only to keep the service running and secure.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not display advertising. We do not accept payment from schools, test-preparation companies or admissions consultancies in exchange for how programs appear in our data — the tuition and program information we publish comes from each school's own published pages, and nothing in it is for sale.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the services that make GoGradGuide work:

  • Vercel — hosts the website.
  • Neon — hosts the database holding account emails.
  • Resend — sends your sign-in emails.
  • Stripe — processes payments.
  • Cal.com — schedules advising sessions.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to do so.

How long we keep things

We keep your account email for as long as your account exists. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your email and account record; we may need to retain payment records for tax and accounting purposes, as required by law.

Your choices

You can use most of GoGradGuide without signing in at all. You can sign out at any time. You can clear your plan by clearing your browser data or using the "Start over" button in the app. To request deletion of your account, or a copy of what we hold, email us at hello@gogradguide.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information — including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and states such as California. We honour these requests regardless of where you live.

Children

GoGradGuide is intended for people applying to graduate school and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
